Who we are
Local Tech Assist is an independent IT support service based in Birchwood, Warrington. For any question about this notice or your personal data, contact us through the messaging feature in your customer portal or via the details on our Coverage page.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and a securely hashed password.
- Booking details: the service requested, appointment type, chosen time, and any note you add.
- Messages you send us through your customer portal.
- Basic technical data needed to keep the site secure, such as sign-in timestamps.
We never store your password in plain text, and our staff cannot see it.
Why we use it
- To create and manage your account and verify your email address.
- To schedule, confirm, reschedule and remind you about appointments.
- To respond to your messages and provide support.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse (for example, rate-limiting sign-in attempts).
Payment information
A £5 booking deposit is planned via SumUp but is not yet active. When enabled, card details will be handled directly by SumUp's own secure payment pages — Local Tech Assist does not receive or store your card number.
Who we share it with
We use third-party processors strictly to run the service: a hosting provider (Render) for the website and database, and a transactional email provider to send verification, reset and booking emails. We do not sell your data or share it for marketing purposes.
How long we keep it
We keep account and booking records for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet accounting and legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and personal data at any time, subject to records we are required to keep by law.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or ask us to restrict how we use it. Contact us through your customer portal to make a request.
This notice is a plain-language summary and has not been reviewed by a solicitor. Before launch, Local Tech Assist should have it checked against current UK GDPR/Data Protection Act requirements.
